A little disappointing

I've had this unit for a year and my biggest gripe is that it clogs too easily. I have the long hose with a black mesh net that fits over a 32 gallon container. My problem with that is it blows off too easily, even if you tie it down as tight as you can get it. Overall it's a good unit, and it does a good job on the dry leaves... however if some of the leaves are a little damp, it clogs up in the intake unit. I'm constantly having to stop, clean it out, then starting over.
I'm working on making a clamp to hold the net to the 32 gallon container, so I hope that helps some. Not sure what I can do about the leaves clogging since you can't always vacuum up when everything is totally dry.
I've had other B&D equipment and had good success... which is why I bought this unit. |

We just bought it tonight from ACE hardware and once we got it out it looked used. Like someone returned it and they just boxed it back up. It was working with good power both blowing and mulching but then started to spark inside it. I'm sorry but if something sparks within MINUTES of use.. you should think about recalling it. Taking it back tomorrow and getting a TORO.
I do NOT recommend this product. Go with a TORO, I've heard nothing but GOOD about them. Same speed and power, and $10 cheaper. |
No replacement bags

| This unit has worked very well for me EXCEPT for the leaf bag. Its attachment to the blower is flimsy (plastic clips) and it got to the point where it would not hold at all. Black and Decker does not sell replacement bags, so the only option is to buy a new unit. This has me angry enough at the company that I will probably buy a Toro unit! |

| I too had sparks flying out after a few minutes of use. Afterwards it stopped working. Very disappointed because I have an older version of it and never had such problems. I returned it and went with the Toro model. No problems yet. |

| I wish I had read the reviews of the b&d blower/vac before buying one. I used it for 5 minutes and sparks flew out of it. I used a 12 guage extension cord so the problem was with the machine. Buy the newest craftsman blower/vac-better quality. Cost the same as well. |
Faulty switch drove me crazy!

| When it works, the BV4000 is worth the money. But I've owned 2 and both would stop for no reason. I had the switch fixed by B&D and that worked for about a season, then, again the switch problem. Hitting the switch with my hand would solve the problem for about 10 seconds and then it would stop again. The only permanent result was a sore hand. Shaking the unit just made it worse. Let's face it, the switch is poorly made. Buyer Beware! |
